3-Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses. 4-From the wilderness and this Lebanon, even as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and as far as the Great Sea toward the setting of the sun will be your territory.
Notes verses 3-4 — God promised Joshua and the people that they have a new place to live. He even goes into great detail of where He wants them to dwell. He tells them that everywhere they place their foot will become their own. Wow, God is giving a rebellious people a great and enormous gift. This land was inhabited by others yet God said I am giving it to you. Thinking back to 40 years earlier, God was ready to give this great gift to His people then. Yet because of sin and doubt this great gift from God was delayed for 40 years. God was enlarging their territory in the form of a gift that would take an act of faith. I wonder how many times we miss out on these gifts from God all because of our lack of faith? How long will we deflect what God has for us simply because we are not listening to Him and doing what He tells us? Let us begin today to accept the gifts from God even when the gift seems impossible. We must remember that we serve God and with Him anything and everything is possible.
