Love Leads To Obedience And Insight

Love Leads To Obedience And Insight

John 14:23-26 (NIV)

23-Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.
24-Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
25-“All this I have spoken while still with you.
26-But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
John 14:23-26 (NIV)

Vs. 23 —
If we truly love God then as an act of expressing that love we will obey His Word. We must show God that we love Him. Anyone can say the words I love you. It is only by expressing the words I love you with action that we show God our love for Him. Question is, do you really love God? God desires to take up residency within all who truly love Him.

Vs. 24 —
We can say I love you Lord all day long, but unless you show that love. Your words are meaningless. Jesus did not water down the message of love. He spoke straight forward to the people. If there is no love for God then there will be no obedience to Him. Jesus spoke only what God The Father instructed Him to speak. He spoke nothing more and nothing less than what His Father desired from Him. Jesus gave all credit to His Father who is God The Father. He even goes as far as saying that it was God The Father that sent Him God The Son.

Vs. 25 —
Jesus said this to His disciples so they would understand that this was all part of God The Fathers master plan.

Vs. 26 —
Jesus assures us that as He ascends to Heaven we will not be left alone. He shares with the believers that God The Father will send God The Holy Spirit to continue the work of God The Son who was and is Jesus Christ the Savior of all who Confess and Believe. What is really interesting is Jesus said this will be done In My Name the very Name of Jesus Christ. Just as Jesus taught the people about salvation, repentance, forgiveness, love, and how to live a life that is pleasing to God. So too God The Holy Spirit will dwell among us until Jesus Returns. God The Holy Spirit was sent to teach and remind us what God The Father desires for us and from us.

This simple straight forward teaching from Jesus Christ is still just as relevant today as it was on the day it was spoken. If you truly love God, then your actions will reflect your words.

Prayer —
Father I come to You this day to say Thank You For Who You Are and What You Have Done. May our words, actions, and thoughts be pleasing to You. May we no longer just say the words I love you Lord. May we live it, show it, prove it, and say it. I Love You Lord. In Jesus Name Amen.
