The Cost of Love

Welcome back to The Fruit of the Spirit Series. Today, we will be finishing up the first fruit: Love

Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

The Cost of Love:

Genesis 29:14-20
After Jacob had stayed with him for a whole month, 15 Laban said to him, “Just because you are a relative of mine, should you work for me for nothing? Tell me what your wages should be.” 16 Now Laban had two daughters; the name of the older was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel. 17 Leah had weak eyes, but Rachel was lovely in form, and beautiful. 18 Jacob was in love with Rachel and said, “I’ll work for you seven years in return for your younger daughter Rachel.” 19 Laban said, “It’s better that I give her to you than to some other man. Stay here with me.” 20 So Jacob served seven years to get Rachel, but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her.

John 3:16
16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 14:6 – Jesus Is The Way, Truth, & Life

Make this Christmas Count

Welcome Back!! My favorite time of year has began! I admit I LOVE Christmas! I could watch Christmas movies and listen to Christmas music year round. I usually have our Christmas tree up by the middle of November. It is such a special time of year–not because of gifts, Santa Claus, the cooler weather, or the decorations but because of Jesus’ Birthday!!

I love listening to my husband read from the Bible the true meaning of Christmas–CHRIST. You won’t hear me saying, “Happy Holidays”. We must make sure we keep CHRIST in Christmas and teach others the true meaning of Christmas.

Why is Christmas so special? Because Jesus was born so that one day, He would grow up to become a very important part of history. Jesus’ life on Earth was one of truth, love, and hope. It brought salvation to all of us. Without Jesus, we would all die in our sins.

Jesus was born so He could pay the price for our salvation. The Bible says that all have sinned. We all do things that do not please God. We needed to have our sins washed away. The only way is through Jesus. Jesus came so He could die on the cross for ALL of our sins.

“But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong.” I John 1:9

If you have not accepted Christ as Lord of your life….please do so! This is the year to invite Jesus into your heart. Then you will understand the true meaning of a “Merry Christmas!”

Be blessed and Be a Blessing,
~M

A Simple Thank You

Our first grader had a special assignment this week. She was asked to write out things she’s thankful for. Here is what she wrote:

I am thankful for my family and friends. I am thankful Jesus loves me with all His heart. I am thankful Jesus is my Savior and lives in my heart. 1 John 1:9 says, “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all our sins.” I am thankful Jesus forgives me when I sin.

So, what are you thankful for?

Today is ….

Hello Everyone! I hope you are having a blessed week.

Today is …
Thursday, November 21st, 2013
One week away from Thanksgiving Day
One week away from those Black Thursday/Friday Sales
The perfect day to turn away from your sins and either accept Christ as Lord or reject Him.
The perfect day to return to His presence if you have walked away from Him.
The day you can quit holding onto grudges and forgive them.
A beautiful day to greet others with a SMILE
A gift from God — today can be anything

Today could be …
Your last chance to get right with The Lord.

Yesterday, a girl I graduated with (I’m 31) died. Life is so uncertain. We don’t know if the breath we just took will be our last.

Joshua 24:15–
15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

It’s your choice. Make the right one because it has ETERNAL consequences.

Think about it,
~M

Mistakes

Hello Readers! Please excuse my previous mistake…I posted an unfinished blog post earlier. Sorry. 🙂

How many of you have ever had an “I can’t believe I just did that moment?” or “Oops” or “What was I thinking?” I know I personally have…especially when I look back at school pictures–the infamous perm hairstyle. But, I did learn something….no more perms for me!

Those kind of mistakes last a lifetime. People will remember our shortcomings and our mistakes. But, our Lord, Jesus Christ, doesn’t. As soon as we ask for forgiveness…it’s gone. The key is that we must ask and do our best not to make those mistakes/sins again.

So, are you holding on to something that you need The Lord to forgive you for? Just simply pray and tell Him what you did (confess) and He will forgive you.

His Word, The Bible, instructs us in 1 John 1:9 —
9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

Are you all confessed up and purified from your mistakes? If not….ask for it. Just always remember when you ask for God’s forgiveness, He gives it. He doesn’t hold grudges like mankind does.

Happy Wednesday! Be blessed and be a blessing,

~M

The Effect of Sin

The Effects of Sin

The 1st Effect of Sin is Sin Rules over you.

Psalm 119:133 — Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me.

God knows how powerful sin is, and that is why He tells us to not fall into sin. God always provides a way out, so sin doesn’t have to rule over you.

1 Corinthians 10:13 — No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

The 2nd Effect of Sin is Sin Holds you.

Proverbs 5:22 — The evil deeds of a wicked man ensnare him; the cords of his sin hold him fast.

The 3rd Effect of Sin is Sin makes you a Slave.

John 8:34-36 — Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

2 Peter 2:19 — They promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves of sin and corruption. For you are a slave to whatever controls you.

You can be set free from the sins that control you. You don’t have to be a slave anymore.

Romans 6:22 — But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.

The 4th Effect of Sin is Sin Entangles you.

Hebrews 12:1 — Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

The 5th Effect of Sin is Sin is Pleasurable.

Hebrews 11:25 — He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time.

The 6th Effect of Sin is Sin is Desirable.

James 1:13-15 — When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

The 7th Effect of Sin is Sin Causes Death.
Romans 6:23 — For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

You can be forgiven.

1 John 1:8-10 — If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.
